It is a great honor for me that the new prose by Spyros Brikos “asphodelos leimonas” which has just been published by “Mandragoras” publications has my art work “Uprooting” (Persecution) on its cover.
The “asphodelous meadow” by Sp. Brikos is, in my opinion, a seismograph of the soul. It is a universal manifesto. A literary punch to the established order. Bold and at the same time with a profound humanistic approach and intense lyricism, work.
Also, the author sets a very important fundamental demand, that of deep knowledge, giving motivation to search. Proving once again his erudition, he makes complicit in the composition of his prose, writings of classical thinkers and not only.
With Spyros, we share common concerns. This partnership of ours was not only valuable but also inevitable.
On page 27 of the book he writes. “My name is Pentheus. I’m coming back from Dachau. From Auschwitz. I escaped. I am returning to my homeland on the shores of the Black Point. I am organizing the international mourning. The supreme court of all human races and species on earth. In that great trial I was also a witness.”…
Thanking him from the bottom of my heart for everything, I want to wish him may his work be well-travelled, dedicating to him an expression from the aphorisms of Nikola Kalas.
“I don’t write to be read, but to be read again”!!!
